On Saturday, in their debut in the Premier League 2023/24 season, West Ham played to a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth away from home. Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paquetá, who is a target for Manchester City, was in the starting lineup for the London-based team.
All the goals came in the second half. In the fifth minute, Bowen capitalized on a rebound at the edge of the penalty area and struck a beautiful left-footed shot to open the scoring for the Hammers. In the 37th minute, the hosts equalized through Solanke, who received the ball inside the box, dribbled past goalkeeper Aréola, and leveled the score at 1-1.
In addition to Paquetá, two other Brazilians were on the field: Italian-naturalized left-back Emerson Palmieri, also playing for West Ham, and former Barcelona goalkeeper Neto, who captained Bournemouth.
In the next round, West Ham will face Chelsea in a London derby at the Olympic Stadium on the 19th. Bournemouth will visit Liverpool at Anfield.
