In the opening match of the Premier League’s 2nd round, Nottingham Forest hosted and defeated newly promoted Sheffield United 2-1 in front of their home crowd.
The first goal at the City Ground stadium was scored by Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi, just three minutes into the game, assisted by Ivorian international Serge Aurier, a play infused with distinct African flair, undoubtedly.
Also three minutes into the second half, Dutchman Gustavo Hamer equalized, but Nottingham Forest secured victory near the end of the match, with Chris Wood’s goal in the 89th minute, once again assisted by right-back Aurier.
Having lost in the 1st round, Nottingham Forest secured their first victory in the Premier League, while Sheffield United suffered their second defeat in two games at the start of this season.
