Sweden defeated Australia 2-0 in Brisbane in a match to determine the 3rd and 4th places in the Women’s World Cup.
Fridolina Rolfo (30′) scored from a penalty kick, putting the Nordic team in the lead, while Kosovare Asllani (62′) sealed the final result in the second half.
Thus, Sweden repeats the same ranking achieved in the previous edition in 2019, following their 3rd place finishes in 2011 and 1991. Their best performance was in 2003 when they reached the final but were defeated by Germany.
As for Australia, who hosted this edition in partnership with New Zealand, achieved their best-ever placement, surpassing their quarter-final appearances in 2011 and 2007.
