Second game, second defeat for Everton in the Premier League. Following their home loss to Marco Silva’s Fulham in the opening matchday, the Toffees were thrashed by Aston Villa, 4-0, at Villa Park.

Seeking to mend their image from the first-round game – a 1-5 defeat against Newcastle – Aston Villa went into halftime leading 2-0 with goals from John McGinn (18′) and Douglas Luiz (24′).

Leon Bailey (51′) and Jhon Duran (75′) extended the lead in the second half, securing the first three points for the team led by Unai Emery.

Meanwhile, Sean Dyche continues to struggle for a win with Everton, in a match where goalkeeper João Virgínia remained an unused substitute. Youssef Chermiti is still waiting for his debut, and the injured André Gomes was also not an option.
