Champion FC Barcelona secured a 4-3 victory today away at Villarreal, in a match where they were leading 2-0 and then trailing 3-2, during the third round of the Spanish football league, currently led by Real Madrid.

The game was an ode to offensive football from both teams, resulting in seven goals and three changes in the scoreline. Once again, the self-confidence of Lamine Yamal, who is just 16 years old, stood out in the FC Barcelona lineup.

Villarreal surprised FC Barcelona early in the game with rapid transitions that allowed them to easily reach the opponent’s area. At the fourth minute, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) disallowed a goal by Norwegian Alexander Sorloth due to offside.

Villarreal, which created danger again through Sorloth and Álex Baena, missed several opportunities, and FC Barcelona made them pay for it, scoring from their first two chances.

Gavi, at the 12th minute, and Dutchman Frenkie de Jong, at the 15th, put the Catalans ahead 2-0 with apparent control of the scoreboard. However, before halftime, Villarreal leveled the score to 2-2 with goals from Argentine Juan Foyth at the 26th and Norwegian Alexander Sorloth at the 40th.

At the beginning of the second half, FC Barcelona was determined to break the tie and regain the lead. Nevertheless, it was Villarreal that completed the turnaround on the scoreboard with a goal from Spanish international Álex Baena (3-2) at the 50th minute.

Shortly after, Yamal hit the crossbar after a good individual effort from the young rising star. Then, Polish striker Robert Lewandowski tested Villarreal’s goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.

Substitute Ferran Torres entered the field at the 63rd minute to score the equalizer for FC Barcelona (3-3) at the 68th, and Robert Lewandowski completed the comeback with the 4-3 at the 71st, securing three hard-earned points for the Spanish champions.

FC Barcelona remains in the third position of the league table with seven points, two points behind the undefeated leader, Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Villarreal occupies the 13th place with three points.
