Serie A: Atalanta vs Monza 3-0

By Score More

Atalanta bounced back from their shocking defeat to Frosinone last weekend with a dazzling 3-0 victory over Monza at the Gewiss Stadium. Gianluca Scamacca marked his first Serie A start for “La Dea” with an outstanding individual performance, following Charles De Ketelaere’s debut goal against Sassuolo.

In a fashion reminiscent of last season, Monza manager Raffaele Palladino refused to be intimidated by the reputation of his opponents. Instead, the visitors aimed to match Atalanta toe-to-toe. However, their “all or nothing” approach backfired on Sunday evening, as Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad unleashed an onslaught to avenge their disheartening 2-1 loss to Frosinone a week prior.

The opening goal arrived in the 34th minute when Ederson reacted swiftly to a rebound inside Monza’s penalty box, calmly slotting home a precise finish to put Atalanta in the lead. Just seven minutes later, Scamacca opened his account for “La Dea” with a well-executed low shot from inside the box, establishing a comfortable advantage by halftime.

Despite their clear lead at the interval, Atalanta did not ease off the gas pedal. Scamacca continued to shine as he unleashed a devastating left-footed strike from mid-range into the far bottom corner, completing his brace and sending the Gewiss Stadium crowd into ecstasy. There was no way back for Monza after that.

Scamacca came tantalizingly close to securing a hat-trick when he found himself unmarked just yards away from Michele Di Gregorio’s goal, poking the ball into the net with the instincts of a poacher. However, VAR intervened, ruling him fractionally offside and dampening his celebration. Atalanta expertly maintained their commanding advantage for the remainder of the match, heading into the international break on a high note.
