Thomas Tuchel, the manager of Bayern Munich, acknowledged feeling disappointed that the desired signing of João Palhinha by the Bavarians fell through, in a deal valued at 65 million euros, close to the end of the transfer window.
“I was sad because I knew how much João Palhinha wanted to play for Bayern and what he could bring to the team. I’m not sure exactly what went wrong. We have a squad with a lot of quality, and we wanted to add even more, but it wasn’t possible, and I have confidence in the players I have,” said the German after the hendecacampeão’s (eleven-time champion) 2-1 victory in Monchengladbach.
