US Open: Carlos Alcaraz advances to the ’round of 16

Carlos Alcaraz, the world’s number one, advanced to the round of 16 at the US Open by defeating British player Daniel Evans in four sets.

The winner of the New York major in 2022, the Spaniard prevailed over the 28th-ranked player in the world with scores of 6/2, 6/3, 4/6, and 6/3 in a match that lasted three hours and 13 minutes at Flushing Meadows, New York. He will face the 61st-ranked ATP player, Italian Matteo Arnaldi, in the round of 16, who eliminated British player Cameron Norrie (16th-ranked) in three sets.

At 21 years old, Alcaraz is seeking his third Grand Slam title in the United States, having won the US Open last year and Wimbledon earlier this year.
