Premier League: Manchester United 1-3 Brighton: Historic day for Seagulls after win at Old Trafford

Manchester United had a forgettable start to this Saturday afternoon, continuing their disappointing season by losing to Brighton 1-3 at home, making it three defeats and only one victory in four games.

With Portuguese internationals Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes in the starting eleven, the Red Devils found themselves trailing after just 20 minutes, thanks to a goal from Danny Welbeck. The response came shortly after, with Rasmus Hojlund scoring, but the goal was disallowed by VAR.

The nightmare for Erik ten Hag’s men worsened in the second half. Pascal Gross scored Brighton’s second goal in the 53rd minute, and João Pedro added the third in the 71st. Hannibal Mejbri did manage to score in the 73rd minute, but it made little difference.

With this victory, Brighton now has 12 points out of 15 possible and sits in third place in the Premier League. As for Manchester United, which remains with six points, they are in 12th place.
