In a rain-soaked derby match in the Italian Serie A, Inter Milan delivered a resounding 5-1 victory over AC Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.

Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan was the star of the show, scoring twice, including an early opener for Inter.

French forward Marcus Thuram extended Inter’s lead just before halftime with a stunning long-range shot that sailed past Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

AC Milan’s Rafael Leao managed to find the net from inside the area, briefly narrowing the gap and offering a glimmer of hope to his team.

However, Mkhitaryan, Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu from the penalty spot, and Italian midfielder Davide Frattesi added more goals for Inter in the remaining time, securing a comfortable victory for the Nerazzurri.

With this win, Inter now leads the Serie A standings with 12 points from four games. Their archrivals, Milan, currently occupy the third position with nine points.

Juventus has climbed to second place with 10 points after securing a 3-1 victory over Lazio earlier on Saturday. Dusan Vlahovic, the Serbian forward for Juventus, played a crucial role, scoring twice to secure a home victory for his team.
