Born in Turin, Italy on May 30, 1906, Farina started his racing career in motorcycle racing before switching to cars in the late 1930s. Farina's career was interrupted by World War II, but he returned to racing after the war and quickly established himself as one of the top drivers in the sport. In 1950, he was signed by the Alfa Romeo team to compete in the inaugural Formula One World Championship.
