Portugal won the European Futsal Championship for the first time in its history in the under-19 category, after beating Spain 6-2 this afternoon in a game that did not start well for the Portuguese team, who were already two goals down at the five-minute mark, thanks to a brace from Pol Salas.
Portugal reacted well, reduced the deficit before half-time and was rewarded for its efforts, with Andriy scoring the 2-2 that stood at half-time after Lúcio Júnior had pulled a goal back in the ninth minute with a superb free-kick.
In the second half, it was all Portugal as they pressed high and defended well against Spanish attacks. They were also lucky to see the score turned around when Pol Salas scored an own goal. Spain tried to fight back, but they conceded a fourth goal in the 35th minute and then took a gamble by playing with an outfield player in goal. This backfired, and they conceded two more goals to lose 6-2 in the end, giving Portugal the European title in this category.
